Lodge cast iron soaks up heat and retains it, which makes cooking a breeze. This griddle will produce the best pancakes you've ever tasted! To say nothing of making great quesadillas, et cetera. I would ONLY buy unseasoned and season it yourself -- it's a no-brainer to do, and Lodge includes instructions with each piece of cast iron cookware.
Once you've used cast iron cookware you will never consider using anything else. It becomes obvious that Teflon et al are meant to be pale imitations of Lodge cast iron. This is the real stuff! It works great, costs next to nothing, and will last a lifetime! What more can you ask for..?! BUY LODGE CAST IRON!!!
PS -- this thing is a *treasure* when you're camping because it soaks up heat like nothing else. It fits on my 2-burner C*leman camping stove and makes the BEST burritos you've ever tasted north of the border. Somehow either being outdoors or the propane heat acting on the cast iron puts a scorch on food like you will not believe. Really an essential cooking tool and a true joy to use.

This original finish grid iron griddle covers two burners.Flat on one side and ribbed on the other, it's reversible.Cooking surface is 16-3/4" x 7-3/4". To season, follow these easy directions - Wash with hot, soapy water and a stiff brush. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Spead a thin coat of solid shortening or vegetable oil over the entire pan including handles and exterior surfaces. Line the lower oven rack with aluminum foil to catch any drippings and preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place cookware upside down on middle rack of oven and bake for 1 hour. Turn off the oven, leaving the cookware in the oven until cool. Your cookware will look slightly brown, instead of the familiar black but it is ready for cooking. It will blacken with cooking.
